  • The best son of the great Sea The Stars

    and first one at stud

"I have seen a large percentage of the
first two crops of Sea The Moon.
I would be confident the commercial market
will show great respect to his first yearlings.
Athletic well conformed horses that look like runners."

    - Consignor and agent Jamie Railton (Newmarket) -

  • "And the spectacle of Sea The Moon running away with the German Derby
will stay in racing people's memory for a long time."

    and first one at stud

    "A stunning display ...
So superior was the son of Sea The Stars
    that Christophe Soumillon
was easing up with a furlong to run."

    - Racing Post -

  • "There can be no better advertisement for a stallion than the fact that Miss Rausing is sending
her superstar ALBANOVA, a triple Group 1 winner, to SEA THE MOON next spring.
She will be just one of a glittering array of talent to form the new stallion's first book of mares."

European Champion

Exceptional winner of the
Derby by 11 lengths

European Bloodstock News:

It is three years after the event, but memories of the IDEE 145th Deutsches Derby have still not faded. The Görlsdorfbred colt Sea The Moon staggered the Hamburg crowd with the most impressive Derby victory in ages, winning by the record margin of eleven lengths. The colt, trained by Markus Klug, only ran once more, when despite an Injury he finished an excellent runner-up in the Grosser Preis von Baden against strong older horses, before being retired. Kirsten Rausing´s Lanwades Stud was able to beat off all opposition and acquire him for stallion duties. Now six years old, he has been based there since 2015, and at Iffezheim his first crop yearlings are now being sold for the first time.

"An impressive CV"

Here are the headlines of what SEA THE MOON has going for him. He's a great individual. He's by Sea The Stars. He's out of a Monsun full sister to three Classic winners from one of the top families in Germany. He was a star racehorse. And he's exceptionally fertile.
